"That this AGM instruct Council to:

(i)       condemn the lack of permanent or sufficient temporary employment opportunities for newly qualified teachers;

(ii)      condemn the practice of using probationers to avoid the appointment of substantive maingrade teachers on a continued and long-term basis;

(iii)     renegotiate the terms of the Teacher Induction Scheme to ensure that the allocation of probationer teachers is an enhancement to existing staffing complements in schools;

(iv)     remind the Scottish Government and local authorities of their responsibilities to maintain and enhance the level of the teacher workforce to ensure high quality education provision.”
