CPD and Lifelong Learning

The introductory part of the LR course is on-line, lasts six weeks and requires 2/3 hours participation per week. There are 6 activities within this section. The purpose of this introductory section is give members a good grounding on the role of EIS LRs, the EIS CPD agenda etc. This intake for this section is in February each year.

The second part of the course is provided by the University of the West of Scotland and this is the part which will allow members to become an accredited EIS LR. The course lasts three months, on-line and the intake is in September each year.

The course is also open to members in the Higher Education sector who wish to train to become the Learning Representative for their institution.

Members in schools who wish to become multi-establishment LRs must receive the approval of their Local Association before they can undertake the course. Members in further education colleges or higher education institutions must receive the approval of their branch before they can undertake the course.
