CPD Event Renfrewshire

 
Renfrewshire Council - EIS Learning Event
Date:  Tuesday  6 March 2012
Time:  7.00 to 9.00 pm 
Venue:  Paisley Grammar School

The topic for this year's joint learning event will focus on the benefits of contributing to Teacher Learning Communities. The evening also provides an opportunity to find out about future developments in moving forward a Curriculum for Excellence. The keynote presentations are provided by Tony Finn who is the Chief Executive of the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) and Ken Muir a Chief Inspector with Education Scotland (HMIE).

Ken Muir will discuss the concepts of developing and enhancing professionalism and the benefits of collaborative working with a view to looking at how Teacher Learning Communities can develop thinking.

Tony Finn has a strong interest in promoting high standards of learning and teaching and in encouraging discussion on creative thinking. The GTCS is currently investigating a system of Professional Update for teachers and Tony will look at the role of Teacher Learning Communities and how they could provide a platform for advancing professionalism in the classroom.
