    The EIS is Scotlandís largest and most effective trade union and professional organisation for teachers and lecturers, with over 55,000 members working in all education sectors.

    The work to be undertaken will involve the recruitment and retention of Institute members with emphasis on the integration of probationers and newly qualified teachers.

    Additionally the Organisers will support activities aimed more broadly at developing member engagement such as CPD events, training of activists, and campaigning. The Organisers will also assist in providing support and a point of contact for Institute representatives.

    Applications from candidates with a background in teaching or lecturing are particularly welcome, as are those from candidates with previous or current involvement in a trade union. Secondments will be considered where applicants can confirm that they have obtained the prior consent of their employer.

    The Organisers will work in both the Instituteís Headquarters in Edinburgh and our Glasgow Area Office. Considerable travel throughout Scotland will be necessary. A car will be provided if required and applicants must hold a full driving licence.
