Further Education Lecturers across Scotland are currently involved in a campaign of strike action as the last resort to get colleges to honour the deal they signed up to in March 2016.

Below we have compiled a list of things you can do to support FE Lecturers and their campaign.

Get involved in picketing at your College

We would encourage you to attend local pickets to show your support for FE lecturers. You can contact your Branch Secretary for more information.

Attend Rallies and Marches

We would encourage you to come to any rallies that are organised by EIS-FELA. There was a successful rally held on the 27 April outside the Scottish Parliament and another in George Square on 3 May. More rallies are expected to be organised as the strike progresses. The information will be made available on the EIS website.

You can contact your Branch Secretary who will have details of Buses being organised to take members to and from the rally.

Write to or visit your MSP

Please contact your local MSP and ask them to write to Shirley-Anne Sommerville, the Minister for FE in the Scottish Government, urging her to intervene to resolve this dispute.

Invite your local councillors, MPs and MSPs to visit your picket lines

You can find contact details for your local MP and MSP here.

Write to local and national newspapers

We would ask you to contact the media regarding the strike action and send letters highlighting the fact that college management have failed to honour the deal they voluntarily signed up for over a year ago.

Distribute EIS promotional materials to students and to the general public

You can find a selection of promotional materials on the EIS website including a leaflet that sets out the reasons FE lecturers are taking strike action.

Send messages of solidarity

You can send messages of solidarity to the EIS National Officer for Further and Higher Education, Anne Keenan, or via Twitter and Facebook.
