Scottish Teachers’ Superannuation Scheme
Pensions
The vast majority of Scottish teachers are members of the Scottish Teachers’ Superannuation Scheme. This Scheme is administered by the Scottish Public Pensions Agency. The Scheme has recently undergone revision and scheme members contribute 6.4% to the Scheme which is a final salary, defined benefit scheme.
Further details of scheme changes are summarised in our leaflet Changes to the Scottish Teachers' Superannuation Scheme (STSS).
A number of EIS members, principally those who are Music Instructors, some QIOs and some Educational Psychologists are members of Local Government Pension Schemes.
A leaflet outlining the changes to the local goverment scheme can be viewed in our leaflet Changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
