The Salaries Committee is also responsible for superannuation matters and holds two seats of the Teachers’ Superannuation Working Party which meets at UK level.
The vast majority of Scottish teachers are members of the Scottish Teachers’ Superannuation Scheme. This Scheme is administered by the Scottish Public Pensions Agency. The Scheme has recently undergone revision and scheme members contribute 6.4% to the Scheme which is a final salary, defined benefit scheme.

A number of EIS members, principally those who are Music Instructors, some QIOs and some Educational Psychologists are members of Local Government Pension Schemes.
