ULA Pay Negotiations & Pay Archive

The scale below is the salary spine for all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) for academic and support staff.

The points within the salary scale are integrated within each HEIs salary structure, e.g. University A may pay lecturers point 40, whilst University B may pay lecturers point 41.

The scale is negotiated by the Joint Negotiating Committee of Higher Education Staff (JNCHES); which consists of the employers side (UCEA) and the campus unions which includes the EIS.

Note: Some EIS members in post-1992 HEIs remain on contractual terms and pay scales commonly referred to as FE(64). These scales are now negotiated at local level with details available from local branch secretaries.
