Students at AGM

The EIS holds an Annual General Meeting every year with delegates representing members from all over Scotland and from all sectors of education.

There are debates around some of the big issues in education and decisions are taken on the direction of the union and its policies for the next year.

This year the AGM will be held in Dundee from 7-9 June and there is an opportunity for a group of student members to attend the event for the day on Friday 8 June to listen in on the debate and participate in the fringe events.

If you are interested in being part of the EIS Student Group at the AGM please contact, Eilidh Porrelli (eporrelli@eis.org.uk).

Value Education Value Teachers

The EIS launched a campaign to secure a substantial pay increase for Scotland’s teachers in 2018. The EIS 2018 Pay Campaign – entitled ‘Value Education, Value Teachers’ – was launched at the January meeting of the EIS Council in Edinburgh.

The Teachers' Side negotiators of the SNCT rejected a pay offer of 2% / 3% from local authorities to Scotland's teachers made in March. The offer was presented by the Employers' Side of the SNCT at a meeting of the SNCT Extended Joint Chairs group. The Teachers' Side had submitted a pay claim of 10% for teachers at all grades.
