Holocaust Memorial Day - 27 Jan 2012

On 27 January 2012, we are asking you to consider what you see and hear around you, and to use your voices to Speak Up against hatred and discrimination.

Every year on 27 January, the world marks Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD). On the HMD Trust website you’ll find all of the resources, information and advice you need to participate in HMD.

Holocaust Memorial Day provides an opportunity for everyone to learn lessons from the Holocaust, Nazi persecution and subsequent genocides and apply them to the present day to create a safer, better future. On HMD we share the memory of the millions who have been murdered in the Holocaust and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur in order to challenge hatred and persecution in the UK today.

Every year the HMD Trust  produce a free Campaign Pack to help educators in their planning for HMD. Sign up to their newsletter to find out when this becomes available. You will also find material for marking Holocaust Memorial Day with your students. Visit their education website for their free Assemblies, Case Studies, Lesson Plans and Activities for Primary, Secondary and Post 16 classes.
