Call to Action: Write to John Swinney

Created on: 10 Oct 2012 | Last modified: 11 Nov 2015

We are asking members to get involved and take action to help protect pensions.

The Scottish Government is considering the issue of further contribution increases for 2013/14 and 2014/15.

Whilst we understand that it is the UK Coalition Government that is the primary mover in this proposal, the fact remains that it is within the power of Scottish Government to take alternative funding decisions and to offer teachers the same protection it is offering to members of the local government pension schemes.

We are asking members, therefore, to write to John Swinney, urging him to reject the Coalition’s proposed increases. We are asking, also, that members write to their local MSP seeking support for our rejection of these potential increases.

We are asking you to write to John Swinney and your local MSP now. We have supplied a letter template which can be downloaded below.
