EIS Learning Rep Susan McAvoy organised a Health & Wellbeing Event titled 'Mindfulness: For you and your learners'  at Dundee and Angus College on Saturday 3rd June.

This event followed on from the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Event held in April 2016.

There were from mindfulness practitioners and teachers who spoke about their experiences of delivering mindfulness programmes in schools and colleges (to both staff and students), how to use mindfulness skills to enhance well-being as teachers and/or lecturer and a workshop with a yoga teacher on mindful movement.

Workshop 1 - Yoga for Everyday Stress, facilitated by Ashley Gates

Workshop 2 - Mindfulness: The path from practitioner to teacher, facilitated by Billy McGoldrick

Workshop 3 - Taking Care of Ourselves: Theory and Practice, facilitated by Christine Dewar

Workshop 4 - Experiences of Teaching Mindfulness to staff, students and younger pupils, facilitated by Susan McAvoy - to view Susan's presentation from the day click here

It is hoped there will be a World Café event early next academic year focusing on the potential of mindfulness in helping us close the attainment gap.
