Teachers Ballot on Action To Save School

Teachers at Springboig St John's School in Glasgow are to be balloted on industrial action. Members of the Educational Institute of Scotland, Scotland's largest teaching union, are to be balloted on strike action in response to a decision by the school's Board of Managers to close the school over a period from March - June 2010.

The EIS states:-

“Individually and collectively, the staff have tried to convince the Board that the school is still viable. It has been operating above the level that was previously agreed as a minimum number of pupils. Teachers are left with no other option than to take industrial action to try to protect the school and their jobs.”
