AGM 2010 Overview
The 164th Annual General Meeting of the Educational Institute of Scotland will be held from 10 -12 June 2010 at The Caird Hall, Dundee.

The AGM plays a key role within the democratic processes of the EIS and acts as the ultimate decision-making forum for the Institute.  This year, over 350 delegates from schools, colleges and universities in all parts of Scotland will meet to debate 56 motions and related amendments which will guide the work of the EIS for the coming year.

Delegates to the AGM are elected from the 32 EIS Local Associations and from the FE and HE associations within the EIS.  These delegates will join representatives of the EIS Parliamentary Group and over 130 elected members of the national EIS Council to debate a wide range of motions on education, lifelong learning and related issues.

The AGM provides a real opportunity for all EIS members to have their say on the way that their organisation is run, and to influence wider debate on educational issues.  As always, the EIS AGM looks set to provoke many stimulating and lively debates this year.

AGM 2009
Last year teachers and lecturers from across Scotland come together to attend the 2009 AGM in Perth and sent a clear message to Scotland’s political leaders on key issues such as the Curriculum for Excellence, the continuing impact of budget cuts, class sizes and qualifications and assessment.
