Music cuts damage education and must be resisted

EIS members rallied together to defend music education last Saturday (19th June 2010) in Fife.

EIS president Kay Barnett made the keynote speech followed by musical items from members of the Instrumental Teachers of Music in Fife – a service which is facing a 50% budget cut over two year.

Ms Barnett said, "Cutting back on instrumental instruction in our schools does not just limit pupils’ exposure to music it also denies pupils the opportunity to develop important skills that they can apply throughout their education.”
