The 168th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) will be held this week at Perth Concert Hall.

The AGM opens on Thursday 5 June and runs until Saturday 7 June. Around 350 delegates (mainly teachers and lecturers from across Scotland) will attend the AGM, to debate key educational issues and to discuss EIS policy priorities for the year ahead.

There are 64 Motions to be debated this year, covering a wide range of issues. The AGM also features keynote addresses by both EIS President Phil Jackson (Thursday, 1430hrs) and General Secretary Larry Flanagan (Friday, 1200hrs).

A busy programme of fringe events this year includes a debate (Friday, 1245hrs) on The Referendum: Poverty, Social Justice and Education featuring invited guest speakers Hannah McCulloch (Child Poverty Action Group), Murdo Fraser MSP (Better Together) and Dennis Canavan (Yes Scotland).
