Journeying into the Outdoors: Why Professional Noticing Matters

In May 2021, early years practitioners from across Scotland came together to explore the benefits, challenges, and possibilities of outdoor play.

In the first of a series of webinars responding to the professional goals and interests shared by early years teachers throughout 2020-21, we heard academic and practitioner views, which were followed by opportunities to discuss and begin to plan play in our own environments.

Jenny Carey, Senior Teaching Fellow and the University of Strathclyde talks about professional noticing, and why it matters.

Ailie Rankin, Early Years Teacher and EIS Member, talks of her journey into the outdoors.

Liz Kerr, Early Years Teacher and EIS Member, talks about the process of evaluating outdoor play.

We look forward to gathering together early in the new term, with space for practitioners to share their practices, their goals, and their plans around outdoor learning.
