Hustings for Local Elections 2022

Created on: 29 Apr 2022

The Hustings was held online on the evening of Thursday 28th April 2022, and is available to view in full below.

The EIS has a long history of organising political hustings events. The EIS Hustings for the 2022 Scottish Local Elections was an opportunity for members to ask questions to representatives of the political parties that were elected to local government at the last local election, about the local issues that affect them.

Representatives from all 5 political parties represented at COSLA were in attendance, responding to members' questions as well as giving a short speech regarding their party's education policies.

The Hustings was also an opportunity for the political parties to respond to the EIS demands set out in the EIS Manifesto.

Speakers included:

Scottish Conservative & Unionist Party: Oliver Mundell
Scottish Green Party: Jon Molyneux
Scottish Labour: Michael Marra
Scottish Liberal Democrats: Willie Rennie
SNP: Shirley-Anne Somerville
