Pay Negotiations 2021

The Extended Joint Chairs of the SNCT met on 5 May 2021. There was no improvement to the pay offer from COSLA in response to the 2021-2022 SNCT Pay Claim

The COSLA offer that has already been rejected is:

  • A 2% uplift for those earning up to £40,000; and
  • A 1% rise for those earning over £40,000 with a cap of £800

The teachers' side expressed disappointment that there was no revised offer tabled and underlined its expectation that an improved offer would be made following the outcome of the Scottish Election and discussions between Scottish Government and the employers’ side on financing of the 2021 pay award.

It was again made clear that the current offer is unacceptable as it would represent a real terms pay cut for the majority of members. It was also made clear that continuation of a differentiated pay offer was completely unacceptable to the teachers’ side.

Negotiations are ongoing and the next meeting of the Extended Joint Chairs will be held on 7 June 2021.
