This section offers a wide range of toolkits and resources that address mental health and wellbeing, developed specifically for use in the classroom, and to help develop wellbeing related activities. While most can be used with any age, there are some primary specific resources available here.

Toolkits

See Me has developed a toolkit called What’s on your Mind for teachers and young people.

Young Scot has launched a toolkit 'Aye Feel' with practical information for young people on how to look after emotional wellbeing, support from organisations around Scotland and tips on how to promote a positive mindset.

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families has produced materials for teachers to use in the classroom. One example is a Mental health toolkit for schools, accompanied by a trainer video.

The Be Real Body Confidence Campaign Toolkit for Schools addresses body image and self-esteem.

 

Selection of resources

Place2Be is a mental health charity, specialising in working with children and young people.  The charity offers free mental health awareness training for registered teachers in Scotland.

Time to Change offers a range of resources for use by those working with young people, particularly in school environments.

The Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) has produced materials with and for teachers to use in the classroom.  Accessing the free resources involves a quick sign up process.

YoungMinds provides a range of resources for use with pupils.  A short, free sign up process is required to access resources.

NHS Learn talk of the principles of Psychological First Aid to improve psychosocial outcomes and effective recovery following any sort of crisis.

Action for Children’s Emotional Wellbeing resource covers areas such as anxiety, stress, and self-esteem.

The Mental Health Foundation showcases a pupil peer education project aimed at breaking the stigmas around mental ill health.
