The online Workload Calculator has been developed as part of the ongoing EIS Workload Campaign, Make Time for Teaching, which was launched last year in response to growing concerns from members over excessive workload and unnecessary bureaucracy.
The calculator is designed to provide a clear indication of how many hours are being spent on teaching, preparation and correction, and the various other contractual tasks that constitute a teacher's working week.
Being aware of how much time is being spent on various activities will help support professional dialogue on priorities and workload, and assist in making workload choices.
Additionally, collated records will provide a firm evidence basis for negotiating school Working Time Agreements.
