Careers with the EIS
Posted 13th May 2015
The EIS is Scotlandís largest and most influential trade union and professional organisation for teachers and lecturers, with over 55,000 members working in all education sectors.
The work to be undertaken, in conjunction with a second Organiser based at the Instituteís headquarters in Edinburgh, will involve the recruitment and retention of Institute members with emphasis on the integration of probationers and newly qualified teachers.
Additionally the Organiser will support activities aimed more broadly at developing member engagement such as CPD events, training of activists, and campaigning.
The Organiser will also assist in providing support and a point of contact for Institute representatives. Applications from candidates with a background in teaching or lecturing are particularly welcome, as are those from candidates with previous or current involvement in a trade union.
The Institute will also consider making the appointment on a fixed term secondment basis where the applicant can confirm that they have obtained the prior consent of their employer.
The Organiser will be based in our Glasgow Area Office. Considerable travel throughout Scotland will be necessary. A car will be provided if required and applicants must hold a full driving licence.
Completed applications should be sent either by post to The General Secretary, EIS, 46 Moray Place, Edinburgh, EH3 6BH or by E Mail to GCartwright@eis.org.uk.
Applications close at 5pm on Tuesday 2 June 2015
