TEMPORARY AREA OFFICER  (BASED IN DUNDEE) - FIXED TERM CONTRACT TO 30 JUNE 2016 - £46,539 pa   

The work undertaken by Area Officers includes representation of individual members in grievance and disciplinary matters, the recruitment and retention of members, training and support of union representatives, negotiations with employers, and the provision of organisational support to a number of the Institute’s local associations.  

A secondment will be considered where an applicant can confirm the prior agreement of their employer.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised administrator to provide assistance to the National Officer in the day to day running of a busy department.

The candidate should have experience carrying out key duties such as including preparation of correspondence, arranging meetings, scheduling appointments and other commitments. Dealing with routine telephone enquiries - providing first line response to members or refer to National Officer as appropriate.

In addition, the candidate will have a high standard of communication skills and excellent attention to detail as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office.

This is a full time fixed term position (approx 6 months) based in our Edinburgh office commencing from March 2016. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm.

ORGANISERS - 2 POSTS (Based in Dundee & Glasgow) - £37,502 pa  

These permanent posts will be based in Glasgow and Dundee and be involved in the recruitment and retention of Institute members with emphasis on the integration of probationers and newly qualified teachers.

Additionally, the Organisers will support activities aimed more broadly at developing member engagement such as CPD events, training of activists and campaigning, and will also undertake casework at establishment level.
