After eight years of sub-inflationary pay settlements, University lecturers are being forced to consider industrial
action to secure a fair cost of living pay rise. Since 2009, the value of their pay has fallen by almost 20%! The
Employers’ paltry 2% pay offer for 2018/19 compounds that real terms drop in the value of their pay. The reality is
that Universities are choosing to invest in other areas – such as senior staff pay and new buildings – rather than in
their staff. It’s time to take a stand to secure the pay uplift which University lecturers deserve and to ensure that
