EIS-FELA has launched a national campaign to protect the lecturing profession and educational standards in Scottish Further Education.
EIS-FELA held an online national day of action on Wednesday 17th June. A video of the online event is available in the menus below.
Restructuring moves in Forth Valley, Fife, and West Lothian Colleges, specifically the introduction of 'Instructor Assessors' to replace Lecturers, will weaken and damage professional standards in Scotland's Colleges. EIS-FELA believes that this move undermines national bargaining and should be resisted.
The restructuring also targets vocational subjects like Care, Construction, Engineering, Health and Beauty, creating a two-tier system, whereby vocational subjects suffer poorer professional standards than other subjects. EIS-FELA fights for the right of all students, whatever their subject, to have a quality education taught by professionally accredited Lecturers.
