Unfortunately discrimination does happen in workplaces. If you would like to talk to someone about being an LGBT teacher in Scotland please contact LGBT@eis.org.uk where you will be put in touch with a classroom teacher or a college lecturer for information and advice in complete confidence.
The EIS LGBT+ Network is an informal network which meets 2-3 times per year and shares information and updates between meetings. Details about the next meeting of the network will follow shortly.

The next meeting of the EIS LGBT Network will provide a supportive space for LGBT colleagues and allies to share their experiences and perspectives on LGBT inclusive education in the current context, and focus on the EIS's developing work in relation to responding to the impact of recent legal decisions in relation to transgender people's rights. The agenda will also include an update on the EIS's anti-far right work in relation to LGBT matters.
The meeting will take place online (via Teams) on Wednesday 19 November 2025, from 5-6pm.
Please register your interest in attending via our online booking form.
Please note, the meeting time has been adjusted to 5-6pm to enable members to attend the Time for Inclusive Education (TIE) Webinar ‘Observing the Classroom’ beforehand. The TIE webinar will provide a practical showcase of LGBT Inclusive Education work demonstrated through academic research.
