BAME Network

Created on: 01 Sep 2020 | Last modified: 21 Nov 2025

The national EIS BAME Network was established to provide opportunities for Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic members to come together and share experiences.

This Network is a space for BAME teaching professionals across Scotland to make connections and host discussions, whilst also providing specific training opportunities to address the prevailing barriers that exist for BAME teachers, and to grow your Union leadership skills.

The national BAME Network was formed as a distinct space for EIS members who identify as Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic. To register to join the Network, please contact Ayumi Christoph.

The BAME Network is due to meet for an online session on Time Off for Religious Observance on Wednesday 26 November 2025 at 4:30pm.

  • Welcome and overview. EIS update on anti-racism work

  • Overview of findings related to local policies on time off for religious observance for education staff
