Despite previous indications that a revised pay offer would follow on from COSLA’s convention, held last Friday, no such offer has been received!
Indeed, a long-scheduled meeting of the full SNCT due to take place on Tuesday of this week, the AGM, was cancelled when COSLA intimated it couldn’t field a team for the meeting, with the Scottish Government quickly agreeing to the cancellation.
This circumstance points yet again to the tactic of procrastination on the part of our employers and, frankly, represents a deeply disrespectful attitude to teaching staff and the process of collective bargaining.
The 2022 pay settlement is already nearly 3 months overdue!
The EIS is keen to negotiate but we will not be strung along, and so as part of our campaign strategy, we continue to build towards strike-ballot readiness by the autumn.
In the meantime, if you have not signed the Pay Attention petition but still wish to register to support for a fair cost of living pay settlement, please add your name electronically.
