Why we are campaigning for reduced class contact time and increased preparation time 

The EIS believes that reducing class contact time will:

  • Reduce teacher workload 
  • Create more permanent teaching posts 
  • Provide more time for ‘preparation & correction’- time for lesson planning, differentiation and ASN, marking and assessment  
  • Improve teacher health and wellbeing
  • Have a positive impact on pupils’ learning.
