New Resources Update - 21 August 2026

Nearly the weekend!  A very short bulletin for you before you finish.

Training/Resources of Interest

EIS is developing a suite of resources/support to combat misinformation.  See https://www.eis.org.uk/equality/disruptingdisinformation for more details.

As discussed before, CEC is committed to tackling sexual harassment in the workplace.  You can find more info, and the updated policies and guidance here on the Orb.  There are also in-person training events that all employees (especially reps and managers) are strongly encouraged to attend.  There is more info here at the Event Sign Up.

Upcoming Events

See https://www.eis.org.uk/edinburgh/latest for more details about activites from Stand up to Racism and the following events:

  • 22 August: Vigil for Professor Jason Arday

Join fellow educators and community members on Saturday 22nd August at 2pm at Scottish Parliament in remembrance of a brilliant academic, mentor, and pioneer whose life and work leave a lasting legacy.

  • 3 September: Scotdec's Annual Teacher Networking Event

This year, Scotdec is exploring what decolonising teaching and learning looks like for different people in different spaces in Scottish education. Whether you’re just starting out or already doing this work, you’ll leave with ideas you can take forward and connections with others who are navigating similar questions.

For more information and to register, please visit Eventbrite: Decolonising Teaching and Learning in Scotland

  • 16 September: Free screening of Everyone to Kenmure Street

In May 2021, a UK Home Office dawn raid triggers one of the most spontaneous and successful acts of civil resistance in recent memory. In Pollokshields, Scotland’s most diverse neighbourhood, hundreds of residents rush to the streets to stop the deportation of their neighbours.

The screening will take place at 5.30pm on Wednesday 16th September 2026 in the Theatre at James Gillespie’s High School. To secure a maximum of 6 seats for any individual booking, simply register with this Eventbrite link HERE.

Have a good week.

Alison
