Farhat Ali

Glasgow

A teacher of Biology, I am active in my local association, serving on the Committee of Management and leading the Glasgow EIS BAME Network.

Throughout my career, I have fought for equality and justice, seeking to advance the rights of the under-represented. There is a need for strong, confident voices in our profession, and I feel compelled to actively promote a profession in which teachers are empowered, supported and trusted to deliver quality education for all learners.

Passionate and committed to teacher professionalism, I would hope to use my skills, knowledge and experience to pursue this
vision on GTCS Council.

Allan Crosbie

I have taught English since 1994, working as Department Head since 2007. An EIS activist since 2011, I served as President in 2024-25 and currently represent the EIS on the Political Literacy Curriculum Improvement Cycle.

I am passionately committed to Social Justice, Global Citizenship, Peace Education, Learning for Sustainability, Decolonisation, and to protecting the precious values of the GTCS Standards from outside influence, ensuring that teacher professional integrity and autonomy are preserved.

If elected, I will apply that passion to my role, working for the expert professional voice of teachers to remain at the heart of
Scottish education.

I have been a Head Teacher for over 4 years, currently at Brannock High School in Newarthill, Motherwell and a member of the EIS for over 20 years.

I believe that relationships, built on the values of trust, equality and inclusion are central to the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning for children and young people. Teachers, upholding our Professional Standards, demonstrate their
commitment to building these relationships every day. I am seeking election to GTCS Council to ensure that the opinions of teachers and the reality of their endeavour in supporting learners are at the heart of the GTCS.
