Following the unanimous rejection by the Salaries Committee of the latest revised pay offer from the Scottish Government and COSLA (the reasons for rejecting the most recent offer are available here), and the failure of the Scottish Government and COSLA to make any further improved offer, last week's targeted strike action in four key constituency areas went ahead as planned.
These strikes were solid and picket line and local lobbies were strong.

In the absence of a reasonable offer from the Scottish Government and COSLA, the two days of national strike action planned for today and Wednesday will go ahead.
AHDS and SSTA have indicated that their members are not taking part in this national action.
The EIS Membership Department has received a significant number of requests for EIS membership over the past few days.
Further targeted strike action is planned for Tuesday 7th until Thursday 9th March, inclusive, in all five key constituency areas: Glasgow Southside, Perthshire North, Dunfermline, Clydebank and Milngavie, and Dumfries and Galloway, Ward 2.
Dates for the rolling programme of strike action commencing 13th March, were agreed at Friday’s meeting of the Executive Committee.
The EIS remains, as ever, willing and available to engage in further discussions with both the Scottish Government and COSLA, through the appropriate SNCT forum, to attempt to reach a resolution to this dispute.
However, the Executive Committee also agreed to further escalate strike action as necessary in the remaining weeks of the current mandate. Developments will be kept under close review.
Council approval will be sought for a £5 national levy of members to support the strike action.
Please continue to check the Strike FAQs which are updated regularly.

EIS ULA members have already been advised on the slightly improved offer for 2023-24 and on ACAS talks to amend the national pay spine. To facilitate these talks, the strike action at UWS and Glasgow Caledonian planned for this week has been cancelled. The statutory 6-month strike mandate for the 2022-23 dispute has almost expired, and a further statutory ballot to renew this on a disaggregated basis for all EIS HEIs will be held shortly.

National Demonstration - 11 March
|
Our national march and rally for fair pay, taking place in Glasgow on Saturday, 11th March.
We assemble at Kelvingrove Park from 10.30am with our march-off to Glasgow Green around 11.30am. We hope to arrive and to be rallying in Glasgow Green from around 1pm.
We need everyone to be wearing and waving our campaign colours: beanies, baseball caps and berets; scarves, tabards and t-shirts; placards, banners and flags…More campaign merchandise is on the way as we prepare for what we plan to be a huge display of intent and support for our Pay Attention campaign.
Mark the date on your calendar, invite your family and friends, get creative with your branch on banner-making…This is going to be massive and you don't want to miss it.
