The University of Strathclyde, in partnership with the EIS, offer the opportunity to participate in a course on leadership skills.
Exploring Leadership Skills for Educators will offer space to discuss current experiences, and plan ways of linking learning from this course into practice back in the classroom. The course will cover:
The definitions and distinction between leadership and management.
A range of leadership styles and their practical uses.
Building practical assertiveness skills.
Managing relationships within the workplace, and team dynamics. Including managing relationships online.
The purpose of leadership in an education setting, recognising all practitioners are leaders in different parts of their working lives.
We have three options for you to choose from. Please choose the option which best suits your requirements.
Edinburgh (in-person) Friday 28th November 2025, 1.15-4.15pm (with lunch from 12.30-1.15pm) - Register here
Highlands (Online)* over two evenings, 18th & 25th November 2025, 5.30pm-7.30pm - Register here
*Please note, this online course is funded for the Highlands and Islands and Argyll and Bute areas. Booking priority will be given to people living and working in these areas. If places become available, these will be offered more widely, so it is worth still booking a place if you are interested in this course.
