Exploring Trauma-Informed Practice as an Additional Support for Learning Approach

Join the University of Strathclyde for this online course on Thursday 10th September, 6:30pm-8pm, with an optional follow up session in the new year (Thursday 28th January) which will invite reflections of learning into practice.

 By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the core principles of trauma-informed practice and explain how these principles support children with additional support needs.

  2. Recognise how trauma and intersectional factors (such as disability, culture, or socio-economic context) may influence the experiences and behaviours of children with additional support needs.

  3. Demonstrate ways to respond to children with empathy and compassion, using practical strategies to create a safe and supportive classroom environment with a strengths-based approach.

  4. Apply strategies to create a safe, inclusive learning environment, adapting responses to meet diverse needs.
