Join the University of Strathclyde on for this online course, delivered across three evenings. Sessions one and two, on Tuesdays 2nd and 16th September, 5.30pm-7.30pm, focus on learning, and a follow up session (on Tuesday 3rd February) will invite reflections of learning into practice.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Describe the core principles of trauma-informed practice and explain how these principles support children with additional support needs.
Recognise how trauma and intersectional factors (such as disability, culture, or socio-economic context) may influence the experiences and behaviours of children with additional support needs.
Demonstrate ways to respond to children with empathy and compassion, using practical strategies to create a safe and supportive classroom environment with a strengths-based approach.
Apply strategies to create a safe, inclusive learning environment, adapting responses to meet diverse needs.
