Important Dates and Information for 2024/2025

Please see below for chances to become more involved in the EIS. If we are going to continue building an active, campaigning union, we need members with a range of backgrounds and experience to participate in a range of different ways - please think if the opportunities below would suit you.

EIS NATIONAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2024 - 2025
The EIS Council is the principal executive committee of the EIS. It meets around 5 times a year, usually in Edinburgh, and also at the national AGM in June. This year the Edinburgh Local Association is entitled to 10 Council members across the 2 categories of Primary/Nursery and Secondary/Special. The 10 places are divided on a 5:5 basis either way and we are keen to fill all of these. The nomination form can be found by logging into myEIS, please email the LA office if you have any problem accessing it. Although the deadline for receipt of nominations was Thursday 1 February 2024, you can still apply as there are still places.
EIS NATIONAL AGM 2024
This year's AGM will take place in Dundee from 6 - 8 June 2024. Nomination forms, for members interested in attending the AGM, can be accessed here. Edinburgh can nominate up to 16 delegates this year (this is in addition to those Edinburgh members who are already on national EIS Council and automatically attend).
Both the National Council and the AGM are great ways of finding out about what is happening nationally both in the EIS and in Scottish education. They offer members a real chance to influence policy and make a difference for teachers and pupils. The nomination form will be accessible soon, the deadline for receipt of nominations is Thursday 1 February 2024.
LOCAL ASSOCIATION OFFICE BEARERS 2024 - 2025
Nomination forms for the post of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer will be accessible soon, the deadline for receipt of nominations is Thursday 1 February 2024.
LOCAL ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2024 - 2025
The LA Executive is the main body driving the work of the EIS in Edinburgh. For it to work effectively, we need Executive members who are willing to get involved, campaign over matters of concern, and shape its work. The new LA Executive starts 6th March after the local AGM. The nomination form will be accessible soon, please email the LA office if you have trouble accessing it, the deadline for receipt of nominations is Thursday 1 February 2024.
