This week it’s mostly updates of standing items to share with this evening’s Hustings in the Radisson Blu Hotel Argyle St 6.30-8pm as a highlight. It’s not too late to register for this event here and will be a [v good] buffet from 6pm.
- EIS Scottish Parliament Election Hustings: We will be hosting a series of regional Scottish Parliamentary Election hustings with prospective MSPs, which are mostly in-person and will give members in selected areas an opportunity to meet local prospective MSPs. Glasgow: This evening, Monday 27th April, Edinburgh: Tuesday 28th April, Aberdeen: Wednesday 29th April and Inverness: Wednesday 29th April. There will also be a national online-only hustings event on Thursday, 30th April, with the education spokespersons for the five major parties invited. - Working Time Agreements: Negotiations will be underway in schools to achieve agreement around allocating the five collegiate hours per week and reflecting the distribution of these across session 26/27 in the collegiate calendar. The WTA Proforma, Checklist and audit tool/collegiate calendar can be found here on the Glasgow website and if further support materials are required, please contact this office and we will arrange to send these out.
- STUC LGBT+ Workers' Conference 2026: Though the closing date for nominations was 25th March, it might still be worth it to register here for this year's STUC LGBT+ Workers' Conference which will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May 2026, at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel in Clydebank.
- Glasgow Networks: Anyone interested in informal LGBT+ or Disabled Members' Networks can contact Equality Rep Damien Donnelly ddonnelly@eis-equalityrep.org.uk
- Violent and Aggressive Behaviour Study: University of West of Scotland need to hear from teachers and practitioners working in Scotland’s cities. - PACT: The government funded and EIS organised anti-poverty training programme is currently running a series of three courses online and in-person. The next session is in-person at the Glasgow Area Office Clairmont Gardens 12.30 on 15th May Session 1: Nature of Poverty. - Pensions Q&A: EIS Pensions and Payroll Specialists, Stephen Stewart and Murray McLeod, will be holding online meetings at 4pm on the following dates and you can sign up by clicking the date that best suits you: Wed 6th May and Tues 26th May
- SPPA Update: The purpose of this circular is to confirm the process and information required for summer retirement applications for 2026 and this circular notifies employers of the increase to public service pensions with effect from 6 April.
- May Day: This year’s annual May Day march and rally, ‘The Fight of our Lives’, will take place on Sunday 3rd May. The assembly point is Barrowland Park Gallowgate, G1 5BG for 10.30am with march-off at 11am and arriving at Glasow University Union for the 12.30pm rally. The local banner will be there so please join us for all or parts of the event, with friends and family welcome too.
