Weekly Update: Monday 1st June

Dear All,

Mostly updates of standing items to share with members this week.

  • Branch Meetings: Please contact glasgowla@eis.org.uk if a speaker would be helpful at any upcoming branch meetings. It may be for a talk on specific topics such as health and safety legislation or to discuss local issues/concerns with members.
  • Working Time Agreements: Negotiations will be underway in schools to achieve agreement around allocating the five collegiate hours per week and reflecting the distribution of these across session 26/27 in the collegiate calendar. The WTA Proforma, Checklist and audit tool/collegiate calendar can be found on the Glasgow website here and if support materials are required, please contact this office and we will arrange to send these out.
  • EIS Professional Learning: ASN provision, Health and Wellbeing, Digital Learning, Inclusive Education, Creative Learning and Teaching, Teacher Leadership and Personal Identity are six sections, each with a variety of courses, to be found at courses we offer
  • Digital Discourse Initiative: The Digital Discourse Initiative programme provides schools with tools and strategies to counter the effects of disinformation and online hate on children and young people. After a successful pilot, free interactive educational workshops for learners between P6 to S6, designed to support critical and digital media literacy, will soon be available to schools. Bookings will open shortly but in meantime, please join waiting list here.
  • AI in Schools: In March 2026, the Scottish Government published 'Scottish Guidelines and Guardrails for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Schools'.  This guidance was produced following close collaboration with the EIS and input from other partners. Look out for short videos explaining each of the five key principles underpinning responsible use of AI in education. These videos will be released throughout May and further information/resources can be found here.
  • Glasgow Networks: Anyone interested in informal LGBT+ or Disabled Members' Networks can contact Equality Rep Damien Donnelly for further information ddonnelly@eis-equalityrep.org.uk

  • GCC ‘Join Us’ Programme: Various Health & Wellbeing staff/manager training workshops and events to be found here . Some of the dates have passed but there are webinars/videos which can be accessed any time.
