School H&S Comittees
Every school (primary, secondary, and special) should have a H&S Comittee according to the Behaviours of Concern Framework.
This committe should:
- Meet Monthly
- Consist of the Behaviour Coordinator (BECO), Teacher Trade Union reps, Facilities Staff, and Support Staff Union reps.
- Disscuss the monthly SHE (now myHS) report - incidents, and responses.
- Consider:
- (Enhanced) Training
- Review of proceedures, as required
- Follow up actions
The school BECO should:
- Display School Police and Proceedures prominently
- Consult the BoC Framework
- Participate in the School Health and Safety Committee
- Prersent a summary of monthly myHS Report statistics to H&S Comittee
- Compile analysis, actions following discussion with HT/SLT
Managing Incidents
- Employee reports incident (including near misses) to their line manager as soon as possible (before end of working day ideally)
- BECO must record incident on SHE (now myHS) within 2 working days and this must be factually accurate.
- BECO must confirm to employee this has been done.
