School H&S Comittees

Every school (primary, secondary, and special) should have a H&S Comittee according to the Behaviours of Concern Framework. 

This committe should: 

  • Meet Monthly 
  • Consist of the Behaviour Coordinator (BECO), Teacher Trade Union reps, Facilities Staff, and Support Staff Union reps.
  • Disscuss the monthly SHE (now myHS) report - incidents, and responses.
  • Consider: 
    • (Enhanced) Training 
    • Review of proceedures, as required
    • Follow up actions

The school BECO should: 

  • Display School Police and Proceedures prominently 
  • Consult the BoC Framework 
  • Participate in the School Health and Safety Committee 
  • Prersent a summary of monthly myHS Report statistics to H&S Comittee 
  • Compile analysis, actions following discussion with HT/SLT 

Managing Incidents 

  • Employee reports incident (including near misses) to their line manager as soon as possible (before end of working day ideally)
  • BECO must record incident on SHE (now myHS) within 2 working days and this must be factually accurate.
  • BECO must confirm to employee this has been done.
