Edinburgh Local Association guidance - Violence in schools.
Violence is unacceptable in any workplace. Edinburgh EIS will support any member who is subject to violent behaviour in any from whilst at their school. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) defines work-related violence as follows:
"Any incident in which a person is abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances relating to their work. Physical attacks can cause anxiety and distress and, in more serious cases, pain or disability. Serious and persistant verbal abuse may damage workers' health through anxiety and distress. In addition, worry about violence at work, even in workers who do not directly exeperience it, can be a source of stress."
