The EIS campaigns for the advancement of education and teachers. It also campaigns on issues affecting wider society.
One of the reasons that our campaigns are successful is that our members lead and take an active part in our campaigns.
Our Stand Up For Quality Education campaign focuses on these 3 key priority areas:
A significant reduction in teacher workload
An increase in funding and support for pupils with additional support needs
Build the skills, resources and school culture to address distressed, violent and aggressive pupil behaviour
Our recent workload strike ballot and threat of industrial action forced the Scottish Government and COSLA to agree on a reduction in weekly class contact time to begin to reduce workload.
We know many teachers starting their journey in teaching will be worried about the growing spread of far-right propaganda and the serious threat it presents in the classroom.
We believe one of the most effective ways to challenge the influence of these attitudes is through open, informed and active dialogue. You can find out more about what we are doing to fight the influence of the far right and read our guidance to members online.
