Dear Colleague
EIS representatives are fundamental to the operation of our union and play a vital role for the members in the workplace. Training is available for all EIS reps, both new and experienced. All reps are encouraged to attend EIS training courses to build and refresh their skills and knowledge to support them in their role as reps.
A full range of EIS TUC courses may be found here.
Please be advised that there are a number of places available on two EIS TUC training courses beginning in September 2021:
1. Online EIS TUC Reps Training Course (An evening course spread out over 20 weeks)
Places are open for reps and activists to take part in a planned online EIS Reps' training course for the 2021/22 academic year. It is a bespoke course for EIS Reps that is accredited by the TUC. This course is ideal for experienced EIS reps or those who have previously undertaken the 4 day EIS Reps' training course.
The course is entirely online during the evenings to allow work to fit around reps’ work and lives. It is broken up into two 10 week blocks between September 2021 and April 2022 and is delivered by TUC tutors at the City of Glasgow College.
To register interest, please contact Jennifer Cook (JCook@eis.org.uk) by 8th September.
2. Online EIS TUC Reps 4 Day Training Course (23rd & 24th September and 18th & 19th November)
Places are open for reps and activists to take part in a planned online EIS Reps' training course for the 2021/22 academic year. This course is the essential training for schools reps and all school reps are encouraged to attend this course, even if long serving. This course is also useful for activists considering becoming reps.
The course is online for two sets of 2 days and therefore you will need to seek remission from your headteacher. The course is accredited by the TUC. The course is delivered by TUC tutors and EIS Organisers.
You should contact your EIS Local Association Secretary to ask them to register you with Jennifer Cook (JCook@eis.org.uk) by 3rd September.
If you have any queries regarding this email then please contact Jennifer Cook (JCook@eis.org.uk).
Best wishes
